Since 1985, the San Jose Symphonic Choir hasĀ benefited from the exciting, knowledgeable and enjoyable direction of Maestro Leroy G. Kromm as a well-known conductor, soloist and accompanist. Under his leadership, we have grown to 110 voices and continue to present important works accompanied by local professional orchestras.
Leroy Kromm is one of the country’s most versatile musicians bringing a broad range of experience to his conducting, singing and teaching. He is Professor of Voice and Co-Chair of the voice department at the San Francisco Conservatory of Music as well as the Music Director of the San Jose Symphonic Choir and the Monterey Symphony Chorus.
Since 1985, he has conducted most of the major choral works with orchestra, and has led concert tours to Spain, France, England, and Scotland. In June 1999, he led the Choir to Alaska to perform Verdi’s Requiem for the Festival of Music in Anchorage. He toured New Zealand and Australia (2001) and Italy (2003) for a dramatic Cathedral tour with chorus and orchestra, and recently Scandinavia and Russia (summer of 2005).

Leroy Kromm specializes in oratorios of all eras, having performed most bass and baritone oratorio roles in concert throughout the United States and Europe. A strong advocate for new music as well, he has worked closely with some of the most prominent composers of our day including George Crumb, Lou Harrison, Jake Heggie, Kirke Mechem, Henry Mollicone and Ned Rorem.
Kromm has been a devoted advocate of singing “Nature’s Way” as taught by his teacher and mentor of thirty years, William H. Miller, from the University of Illinois. He has performed with Philharmonia Baroque Orchestra, Aspen Music Festival, Anchorage Festival of Music, Carmel Bach Festival, and Midsummer Mozart under Maestro George Cleve. Among his numerous opera roles are the title roles in Tartuffe by Kirk Mechem and Mozart’s Le Nozze di Figaro, as well as musical theater and one-act contemporary operas produced for PBS television.
Mr. Kromm has recorded on various labels including Harmonia Mundi and Musical Heritage Society and he continues to serve as a clinician and consultant nationally in academia as well as the film industry in Hollywood.

Saint Andrew’s Adult Choir
The Saint Andrew’s Choir of volunteer members, ranging in age from youth, to young adults and older adults, sing for the 10 A.M.Eucharist on Sundays from September through June, and special celebrations throughout the church year. In addition, the adult choir leads two choral evensongs a year, as well as performs with our resident local Saratoga Symphony in a Spring concert.

Saint Andrew’s Gloria Choir
The Saint Andrew’s Gloria Choir offers, at the highest standard possible, praises to God through leadership in music and liturgy. The choir is comprised of members who are treble singers ranging from 2nd through 8th grades. All in this age group are welcome and no audition is required. We rehearse Sunday and Monday, sing once per month at the Family Eucharist service and on special occasions. In addition, we have performed a full length musical for the past two years. Members participate in the Christmas Pageant and Family Celebration of Easter each year. Parents take turns bringing snacks, supervising, helping with robes and are invited to all rehearsals.
Pipe Organ
In 1983 a magnificent pipe organ, designed and fabricated by Schantz Organ Co., Orrville, Ohio, was installed in the church and dedicated in the fall. More info…

The Bell’s Angels is a group of teen and adult hand bell ringers who meet every Monday night from September through June preparing music for special services and other events, to grow in knowledge of technique, and to enjoy pleasant fellowship together.
